That same year, he was persistently witnessed to by a man who was a patron of a Christian youth fellowship in his neighbourhood but he would not yield to the faith. With a good knowledge of the Bible, he instead engaged in arguments with Christians. One afternoon, while he was headed out he met a man who said to him “Whether you like it or not, you will come back to the faith because I am fasting and praying for you.” This became the turning point in his life. He wondered how his return to the faith could become someone else’s priority. And the man’s words proved prophetic. Rev Frank Appiah yielded to the faith in 1993 and has never looked back.
In 1994, Rev Frank felt the call to ministry. He recalled that during a one-week fasting and prayer, he saw himself preaching to large crowds; laying his hands on people and praying for them. This, he said, became a repetitive dream for many weeks. And, as his church engagement grew, he rose to become a key figure in the youth group that birthed him into faith. He served the Lord mostly in preaching and exorcism (deliverance).
Burning with an inner desire and zeal to become an effective minister of the Gospel, Rev Frank enrolled at the Christian Service College (now Christian Service University College, Kumasi) in 1997. He studied for a Diploma in Biblical Studies for three years. Based on an affiliation between his school and the University of Ghana, he also sat for and obtained a University of Ghana Diploma in Theology.
In 2000, he furthered his studies again at the Christian Service University College, Kumasi and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Theology. Pastor Frank Appiah believes that Christian Service University College helped immensely in shaping the leader in him. He asserts that although he was very young at the time, he served the Students Representative Council in various capacities, winning elections to become the Vice President for two academic years. During his last days at school, he was awarded a scholarship to study in the Republic of South Africa and upon completion, invited to return to Christian Service University College as a lecturer – an offer he declined to continue studying, this time in the Netherlands.
God blessed him with a scholarship to study for a Master of Arts in Theological Studies at Tyndale Theological in the Netherlands. After graduating in 2004, he migrated to London and joined Gospel Light International Church. He has worked as Associate Pastor and now the Head Pastor of this prestigious church since May 2013; after being ordained by Bishop Matthew Addae-Mensah.
