WORD FOR TODAY – ROMANS‬ 5‬:7‬-8‬ NIV‬‬

ROMANS‬ 5‬:7‬-8‬ NIV‬‬ “Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Christ died for sinners not the righteous nor good; not only such as were useless, but such as were guilty and extremely evil. Yes! He died for those whose destruction would greatly contribute to the glory of God’s justice because they were criminals that ought to die. Therefore God commended his love and magnified it and made it illustrious. Thus, Christ’s love is advanced and rendered the object of the greatest wonder and admiration. While we were yet sinners, implying that we were not to be always sinners, there should be a change wrought; for He died to save (deliver and transform) us from our sins. The proof of God’s love for us is not so much evidence in the material blessings we receive from Him. The proof of His love is that while we were still sinners, passing Jesus by on the road of life, God sent His only, beloved Son to die for us. Let us thank God, that He did not just say , “I love you,” in words, but He also demonstrated and proved His love for us by saving us
