ESTHER 4:16 NIV
“Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.””
Mordecai appealed to Esther look at the situation (of the plot against the Jews and her ascension to the throne) in the light of God’s sovereignty. This convinced her that she should get to see the king urgently. However, due to the complexity of the matter and also matters that bordered on royal protocol, she wisely decided to enter into a three day fast. She informed Mordecai of her decision, requested him all the Jews to partner with her in this spiritual discipline. It’s always good to solicit the prayer support of others in matters that outweigh us. “One will chase a thousand and two will chase ten thousand”. “In the union of forces, there is a great force”. Deep calls for deep and extraordinary challenges call for extraordinary prayers. In 2007, when I was facing a crisis in my life, I was told in a dream by an unknown figure to “go, mobilise people and pray”. In obedience to the message, a breakthrough came speedily. There’s power in cooperate prayers. One way of increasing spiritual power in our lives is especially during fasting and prayer. I know of no better way when facing a crisis, or when about to make a major life decision, than to enter into a time of prayer and fasting. Even a twenty-four-hour period of fasting can bring tremendous spiritual benefits. Fasting without praying is a hunger strike. May the Lord grant you an outstanding breakthrough as you seek Him in fasting and prayer. Have a Victorious Day. SHALOM: God’s universal blessings to you.
