HEBREWS 9:22 AMP
“In fact under the Law almost everything is cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness [neither release from sin and its guilt, nor cancellation of the merited punishment].”
🌟 GOLD NUGGETS
“The ‘crimson trail’ in Scripture refers to references to blood that begin in Genesis and end in Revelation. Open the Bible at almost any point and you are not very far from some reference to blood. The cardinal reason why there is so much emphasis on blood in the Bible is revealed by our text for today: ‘… without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.’ God wanted to teach the people in the Old Testament (and, the other nations of the world) that sin was so despicable and horrifying, the only way it would be erased was through the sacrifice of another life. The blood of animals in the Old Testament could not take away sin, of course, but God used the ritual to lay deep in human thoughts the truth of atonement. In the New Testament, Christ became the ultimate and perfect sacrifice for our sins. In our day and age, references to Christ’s blood and atoning sacrifice are being dropped from Christian music, our hymn books and from our pulpits.
Today hymns like:,
_1. When I survey the wondrous cross
on which the Prince of glory died,
my richest gain I count but loss,
and pour contempt on all my pride.
2. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast
save in the death of Christ, my God!
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them through his blood.
3. See, from his head, his hands, his feet,
sorrow and love flow mingled down.
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4. Were the whole realm of nature mine,
that were a present far too small.
Love so amazing, so divine,
demands my soul, my life, my all._
The Christian church must return to “the crimson trail” that runs from Genesis to Revelation, and remind ourselves that it is by the innocent and propitiatory death (blood) of Christ that we are redeemed and saved. SHALOM: God’s all encompassing blessings to you
Amen
