“By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.””

Jesus didn’t say that all men would know we are His disciples even by the way we demonstrate our love for God. He said very distinctively that the primary determinant for the world to identify us as His disciples was our love for one another. That same night, the Lord prayed to His Father using this same thought saying,
“… I pray also … that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you … (John‬ â€17‬:â€20‬-â€21‬ â€NIV‬‬).” This is a New Commandment. It presents a new standard. It requires of us to demonstrate that servant-like and selfless love of Christ. As His disciples, must have love, not only show love, but have it in the root and habit of it, and have it when there is not any present occasion to show it; have it ready. Brotherly love is the badge of Christ’s disciples. By this he knows them, by this they may know themselves (1 John 2:14), and by this others may know them. This is the livery of his family, the distinguishing character of his disciples; this he would have them noted for, — their love for one another. This is what Christ was famous for. All that ever heard of Him have heard of His great love. According to Jesus, unity of believers through a genuine godly love is the greatest tool for evangelism. The early church didn’t have the massive organisational structures that we see today or the ability to travel anywhere in the world in just a matter of hours. They certainly did not come close to spending as much money, in proportion to us, to spread the Gospel. They had no public address systems. Yet, they turned the world upside down (Acts 17:6).”Before we can ever fulfill the great commission (Matthew 28:19-20), there must be a revolution and a revival of love in the modern church. Today, ask the Lord to show you how you can express your love to your brothers and sisters in and outside the church. The greatest Christian virtue and gift is love. “Love never fails.” SHALOM: God’s all encompassing blessings to you
