About us

A history of our church

Letting his light lead

In March 1992, Bishop Addae-Mensah was invited to the UK by Mr. Ralph and Marian Holgates of Borough Green, Tombridgewells, Kent; through the efforts of Mr. Ralph Dzokoto. While in the United Kingdom, Bishop Addai-Mensah would visit his sister-in-law at Fulham in West London every weekend. Soon the Lord started touching the lives of people who came into contact with him and called him to found this church.

With the little resources he had, he rented a place of worship at the Y.M.C.A. hall in Ealing, London. Soon the congregation of the church grew from 13 to 700 people – the Lord blessed us to become the largest black community church in those days. And in May 1994, Rev. Samuel Aboagye Asamoah was sent by Bishop Mathew from Ghana to take care of the church. On his return, Pastor Kofi Gyamfi was sent from Ghana to take care of the branch. As we’ve grown to meet the needs of our congregation, God has blessed us with our current location at 1A Copeland Road in Walthamstow, London, United Kingdom.

The GLIC network

Now, to the glory of God, our church network (GLIC) has over 200 Branches in Ghana. Beyond Ghana, we have congregations in London UK as well as Maryland, New York, Cincinnati Ohio and Chicago USA. In Germany, GLIC has a branch in Oberhausen.
Elsewhere in Africa, there is great work being done in Abidjan (La Côte D’Ivoire) and pioneering works going on in Ethiopia. Lastly, our Cameroon was adopted under the authority and leadership of the Bishop.
We’re blessed to be a part of a huge community of believers and we invite you to join us in celebrating God’s grace.

Our Church

Preaching the gospel

God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life (John 3:16).
Humankind is sinful and is separated from God. Therefore we cannot know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23).
Jesus Christ is the only provision made by God for the sins of humankind. Through him we can know and experience God’s love and plan for our lives (Romans 5:8; 1st Corinthians 15:3-6; John 14:6).
We must individually receive and confess Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour. Then we can experience God’s love and plan for our lives (John 1:12; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 3:1-8).
We receive Jesus Christ by inviting him into our lives (Revelation 3:20).
If you have invited Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Saviour, then there is no condemnation for you (Romans 8:1-2).

Preaching the gospel

That the Lord God Almighty is one.
That although God is one, he has manifested in three persons (God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit) for the economy of our salvation.
That salvation is by grace and through faith in Jesus Christ.
That the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God.
That the Holy Spirit is a dispenser of gifts to individual Christians for the building of the church.
That we are mandated to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to people of all nations, tribes, cultures and languages.

Preaching the gospel

We invite you to experience the love and care of the Lord Jesus Christ, manifested by all our members.

Bringing His light to the world

Vision

To build a dynamic, multicultural family-centred church that will know Jesus Christ better and make him better known.

Mission

To become a church that will be the visible manifestation of the invisible God.

To gather in souls for the kingdom of God.

To equip these souls with the values and principles of the kingdom of God.

To send these souls out to win more souls for the kingdom of God.

To develop a caring community of Christians.
