EXODUS ‬ â€12‬:â€13‬ â€NIV
“The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.”‬‬

In the Book of Exodus we meet the children of Israel labouring under the cruel slavery in Egypt. They cried out to God for their freedom and deliverance. God saw their misery, heard their cry, was concerned and therefore sent Moses to be their deliverer. Despite the plagues that God sent to the land of Egypt, Pharaoh remained resistant: he would not let the Israelites leave the Egypt. God then decreed that on a certain night the firstborn of every family would die. Only those sheltered behind a blood-sprinkled door would survive. The way of deliverance was portrayed so clearly that no one could mistake it. A lamb was to be slain and its blood sprinkled on the doorposts and the lintels of each house. In this way the Israelites would suffer no loss while the firstborn of the Egyptians would die. Had the Israelites decided to ignore God’s precise instructions, their firstborn would have also perished. God said, When I see the blood, I will pass over you.’ Today, as in every generation, there are many who would prefer a gospel that has no mention of blood. However, the solemn fact remains: there is just no other way by which the sin of mankind can be covered except by blood – Christ’s blood. “… Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed (1 Corinthians‬ â€5‬:â€7‬ â€NIV)‬‬.” Let’s be grateful to Jesus our Passover lamb and may our hope be built on nothing less than his blood. SHALOM: God’s all encompassing blessings to you.
