Since the Creation, God has given us work to do. If we could regard our work as an act of worship or service to God, such an attitude would take some of the drudgery and boredom out of it. We could work without complaining or resentment if we would treat our job problems as the cost of discipleship. It sanctifies a servant’s work when it is done as unto God – with an eye to his glory and in obedience to his command, and not merely as unto men. We are really doing our duty to God when we are faithful in our duty to men. And, for servants’ encouragement, let us know that a good and faithful servant is never further from heaven. Let us know and understand that it is of the Lord that we shall receive the reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ. Concentrate on doing your everyday tasks in awareness of God’s presence with you. Know that you are richly blessed when you walk trusting God through the routines of your day. Work is not a curse but a divine gift. There’s dignity in labour. God doesn’t encourage idleness. Every work we are engaged in, let us do it unto God. Service to humanity is service to God.
