From today we will spend sometime looking at another pillar of wisdom – diligence. Diligence – a steady, earnest, and energetic effort : devoted and painstaking work and application to accomplish an undertaking. The wise are those who persevere, who persist in following that which is right, who stick with it and never give up. One of the greatest needs of our day is for diligence to be put back into life – especially amongst the young.
A Christian educator writes: “Diligence in the young is something that is built into them not by precept but by example. In our day and age there are not enough examples of diligence to inspire the youth. Diligence does not seem to be esteemed. However, diligence is an essential virtue that every Christian must have. God doesn’t encourage idleness. When we encounter Christ He disturbs our complacency and challenges us to apply ourselves to the things that were before us. We must learn diligence from the One whose life and character were the very epitome of this quality – Jesus. He is diligence personified. The sum total of all diligence. May the Lord bless us with this facet of wisdom – the quality of diligence and may He prune us from all laziness, indolence and complacency. SHALOM: God’s all encompassing blessings to you 🙏🏾.
