PROVERBS 18:24 AMP
“The man of too many friends [chosen indiscriminately] will be broken in pieces and come to ruin, But there is a [true, loving] friend who [is reliable and] sticks closer than a brother.”
GOLD NUGGETS
We all need a small circle of friends. If friendship is so important, how do we go about making friends?
1. Be friendly.
The New King James Version of the Bible says: “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).”
“Friends are the siblings God never gave us.” You shouldn’t become friendly just in order to gain a friend. Friendliness is being kind and pleasant towards someone.
Friendliness is the art of going out of yourself and appreciating others more than you appreciate yourself. This is an attitude we must develop. Some people have no friends because they simply can’t demonstrate a friendly attitude towards others. To have a friend – be one.
2. Allow time for friendships to develop. Do not force for friendships. Only gently and respectfully knock at the door of people’s heart and wait patiently for them to allow you in. Some relationships may never develop into friendships. Don’t fret about it. May the Lord lead, guide and show us where deep friendships are to be found and developed. SHALOM: God’s all encompassing blessings to you.
