“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8). Jesus shared these words with His disciples before His ascension. He knew as believers we would influence our Jerusalem (family or city), Judea and Samaria (state and country), and the ends of the earth. If we aim to shine God’s light on the world, we can’t neglect the power of prayer. 
This guide will help you pray for the people in your areas of influence and beyond. Use any blanks to insert the names of those who come to mind as you pray. 

MY FAMILY

Jesus, thank you that you love my family more than I do. I lift up _______________ and any other family members who don’t know you. I pray that you would soften their hearts toward you. Pursue them and show them your love today. I pray that they would know the Truth, and the Truth would set them free (John 8:31). Use me and others to shine your light in their life. Speak through me with your words of life, love, and wisdom. Guard, protect, and minister to them. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

MY FRIENDS AND CITY

Lord, thank you for your infinite power and presence. Thank you for my friends __________ and my city, ______________. I pray for my friends today that you would reveal to them how deep, rich, and wide your love is. I pray you would pursue their hearts. Help me to reflect your goodness and compassion to them. Lead them to you and the truth. I also pray for my city and all the people who need to know you; Holy Spirit, draw them to you. Use every setback in their life as a stepping stone into your arms. Let them encounter genuine believers at every turn. I pray your Church would be full of your presence and become an even greater beacon of hope. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

STATE AND COUNTRY

Lord, it can feel discouraging when I see my state and nation in turmoil. I take heart, knowing that nothing is impossible for you. I turn to you for hope. I pray for my local and national leaders _________________, let them be led by the power of your spirit. Protect them, give them wisdom and discernment, and strengthen them to walk in integrity, truth, and justice. Pour your spirit out over my state and nation. Where there is division, bring unity. Help me be a voice that believes the best and speaks the best because I trust in your power. In Jesus’ name, amen. 

THE ENDS OF THE EARTH

God, thank you that every person was created in your image and that you love them deeply. I pray for all the nations, tribes, and people groups worldwide who don’t know you. Lord, reveal yourself. I pray for protection for those suffering from religious persecution and those who would be punished for owning a Bible; Lord, meet them in a special and intimate way. In every area of lack, be their sufficiency. Let the gospel spread in creative ways as you inspire believers around the world to carry the Good News. Soften the hardest of hearts and transform the darkest of regions. Thank you for your incredible power. In Jesus’ name, amen.
