ACTS 4:19-20 NIV “But Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
Here is the courageous resolution of the prisoners (Peter and John) to go on in their work, notwithstanding the resolutions of Jewish court, and their declaration of this resolution. Peter and John needed not confer together to know one another’s minds (for they were both actuated by one and the same Spirit) and jointly put in the answer: “… Peter and John replied, “Which is right in God’s eyes: to listen to you, or to him? You be the judges!” They do, in effect, tell them that they are resolved to go on in preaching, and justify themselves in it because God commands them to and they are obligated to obey God than man. Why do we seem to make speaking up for Christ so complicated? Whatever fills our hearts come out of our mouths. If Jesus fills our hearts He shall come out on our lips. Like Peter and John, we can’t be able to help speaking about what we have seen and heard of Him. What have you seen? What have you heard? What have you experienced in Christ? Necessity is placed on you to share your experiences in Christ with others.
