WORD FOR TODAY – ‭‭EPHESIANS ‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬

 ‭‭EPHESIANS ‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬ ‭AMP

“For it is by grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God;”

‬‬

For us to understand grace we must see it in relation to a Sovereign.
Grace is bound to be sovereign since it cannot by its very nature be subject to compulsion.
That is why we often refer to it as free grace.
There is no reason for grace but grace.
The old and popular definition of grace continues to hold value.
“Grace is the free unmerited favour of God.”
Grace is a favourable disposition of God’s love to us.
At the heart of all true communion and fellowship with God lies this truth – God took the initiative.
He is more inclined towards us than we are towards Him. We cannot earn His affection.
He freely bestows it to us.
We simply receive it.
God always takes the initiative.
We came to faith in Him because He first drew us.
The very faith in which we lay hold of Him is “the gift of God”.
Every step we make in this faith journey and pilgrimage is possible because of His grace.
Unfortunately others preach and believe that we have to literally “work our passage to heaven.
That is like attempting to pay a debt which your entire resources doesn’t match up to.
Let me reaffirm the words of Apostle Paul: “For it is by grace you have been saved. It is the gift of God.”
Grace is a gift.
You simply receive.
May God’s gracious hand rest upon you today.
