LUKE 17:18 AMP
“Was there no one found to return and to give thanks and praise to God, except this foreigner?”
Jesus had healed ten lepers and told them to show themselves to the priests as Moses commanded. As they obeyed Him, they were healed; yet only one returned to thank Jesus. He fell at Jesus’ feet and gave Him thanks (vrs 16). According to Jesus, this man glorified God (vrs 18). Therefore, giving thanks to God is glorifying Him. When we shower on our God thanksgiving and praises we acknowledge Him as the fountain of our blessings. In the act of thanksgiving and praise we are humble ourselves and declare that “it was His ability, not ours, that has made us who we are.” Our gratitude glorifies God. Ingratitude is a summation of arrogance. God is our Source. The Psalmist say: “Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. (Psalms 100:3 AMP).” No duty is so urgent than that of returning thanks. Let us begin this week by entering into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise for all that He has so graciously done for us. “The thankful receiver bears a plentiful harvest.” Remain blessed.
