WORD FOR TODAY – ‭‭LUKE 5‬:‭4‬-‭5‬

LUKE 5‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ NIV

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.””

Jesus had just used Peter’s boat to preach to the people, and He in return wanted to bless him. Jesus told Peter to let down his nets for a catch. Peter could have chosen not to believe Jesus’ promise over the fact that he had been fishing all night and had caught nothing. In fact they were washing their nets when Jesus came to them: a sign that they had given up on the night’s fishing expedition. Jesus was a wonderful preacher, but what did He know about fishing? Peter and his companions were experts in their vocation. It’s to his credit that he obeyed. Their nets weren’t able to handle all the fish, and it began to break. This was the biggest catch of Peter’s life, yet it could have been even bigger! The fish were actually available to get into their nets, but his vision was too small. We often miss God’s bumper supply because we do not embrace God’s vision for our lives. We often limit what God wants to do for us because we underestimate what He can do.
Your faith determines the manifestation of God’s supply. The widow in 2 Kings 4:6 could have had more oil, but she ran out of vessels. Expand your vision for more or even greater miracles. The Lord bless you and keep you. May He be gracious to you.
SHALOM: God’s universal blessings to you.
