WORD FOR TODAY – MARK 10‬:‭50‬

MARK 10‬:‭50‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.”

Evidently Bartimaeus wore a particular clothing which distinguished him as beggar. When he cast away his garment, he was making a significant and an emphatic statement. He believed he was done begging. He believed Jesus would heal his blindness. Beggars weren’t like everyone else. They weren’t productive members of society.
They might have been tolerated or pitied, but they weren’t admired. They definitely weren’t allowed the same privileges as those who were normal. Bartimaeus must have hated the limitations that his blindness imposed on him. No doubt, he dreamed and prepared about what it would be like to have his sight restored. He had been told of the healing and miraculous power of Jesus. He was desperate and became determined about what he would do if Jesus ever passed his way. He would let nothing and no one stop him from receiving his healing. How convinced are you that He will heal you, change you, and deliver you? He cast away every thing that might be in danger of throwing him down, or might in any way hinder him from coming to Christ, or retard his motion. Are you holding on to your “old clothes” just in case nothing happens and you have to stay in your beggarly existence? The particular favour he begged, was, that his eyes might be opened; that so he might be able to work for his living.
He received this favour. His eyes were opened (Mark 10:52) Meditate on God’s promises until you see yourself receiving whatever you need. Have faith that the particular favour you ask of the Lord shall be received. Make no plans to go back to where you were before. Make preparations for your miracles. God is bringing them to you speedily. It shall be permanent. SHALOM: God’s universal blessings to you .
