WORD FOR TODAY – ‭‭MATTHEW ‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭

MATTHEW ‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

It is unwise to feed when we are not hungry. We must be hungry to be fed. The all knowing and awesome God doesn’t “force feed us”. One of the worst things that can happen to a Christian is to develop spiritual apathy or spiritual complacency. Being hungry and for the things of God is one of the best things that can happen to believers.
Most believers don’t feel that way. They would rather have the feeling of being full and content all the time, but Jesus promised us His fullness if we would first hunger.
His principle is, “No hunger, no fullness. Longing for more of God is a healthy sign. We never hunger for God on our own. That is not a function of our fallen nature. Only our born-again spirits can hunger for more of God under the unction of the Spirit of God in us (John 6:44.) It is the Holy Spirit in us who draws us by giving us an insatiable desire for everything God or godly. Being hungry for God doesn’t cause God to move in your life. It is a sign that He is already at work in you. Let’s praise God for moments of spiritual hunger. Be excited and motivated when you experience it. God makes you hungry so He can fill you with His power, wisdom, blessings and love.
As you read today, may the Lord ignite in you a passion, quest and a hunger for His fullness. Remember: He fills those only who are hungry for Him. Have a pleasant weekend. SHALOM: God’s universal blessings to you and your household
