ROMANS 8:28 AMP “And we know [with great confidence] that God [who is deeply concerned about us] causes all things to work together [as a plan] for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to His plan and purpose.”
Sometimes God’s ways seem so hard to understand! Why does He allow bad things to happen to good people, innocent people and children? In our text today, Paul wrote to reassure believers who lived in Rome, a city dominated by Nero, a man with “absolute” power. During his days as Emperor of Rome, Nero seized Christians as scapegoats for the fire and had them burned alive, not by public justice but by personal cruelty. Therefore Paul wrote encouragingly, “We know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Phrased another way, Paul was reminding the children of God they can be confident that all things work together for good of the Christian because God is deeply concerned about them [us]. Brokenness leads to blessing, death leads to life, and suffering leads to glory! So when bad things happen, just trust God! Your test can become a testimony, your mess will give you a message, your trial can result in triumph. God can turn your mourning into dancing and He can give you double for your trouble. Today may “God make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything … (2 Cor 9:8).”
